Jane Bow was educated in Spain, England, and Canada. She holds English and journalism degrees and has written for Chatelaine, several major daily newspapers, and CBC Radio. During the early 1970s she worked as a newspaper reporter for Thunder Bays Chronicle-Journal, covering the court beat. Her short fiction has appeared in various literary magazines. Her Midnight Original true crime novel, Dead and Living, was nominated for the Crime Writers of Canada Arthur Ellis Award. She now lives in Peterborough, Ontario, where she has developed and taught community college communications. She works part-time as a storybuilder and environmentalist.
